Doug the Neighbor - Free Advice....$1 - Dream List - Christmas has ended. The New Year is 5 days away. Resolutions are a fun way to start the year. But as we get older, we realize those resolutions are never kept. Two weeks into the New Year, we resort back to our old ways. Much better to make a 'Dream List' of all the things we would like to accomplish in the New Year. Not change our ways but to accomplish. List the places you would like to travel to. Little weekend trips and THE BIG TRIP. List the books you would like to read. List the people you would like to see. Get acquainted with again. List the projects around the house you would like to tackle. Paint the garage. Clean the eves. Make your New Years list, not of resolutions to change your ways but to forge new paths in getting things accomplished. For confidence is built by getting things done. The new you will emerge. - Doug the Neighbor Free Advice....$1 - Venmo...@Douglas-Gowland

Doug the Neighbor - Free Advice...$1 - Santa - Yes. I believe in Santa Claus. I am a grown man who believes in Santa. I believe in the essence of Santa. Kindness. Magic. Elves and flying reindeer. How sad we would be not believing. If you believe in Santa, you can...believe in Cupid and his arrows of love on Valentines Day. We can have faith in things we have not seen, but we know are real. Santa is real. Love is real. On Christmas morning, you will know Santa has come. He ate the cookies. = If you like this advice...$1 Venmo...@Douglas-Gowland

Doug the Neighbor - Free Advice...$1...Give... - The holiday season has started and the rush to go shopping and get the perfect present for that special someone can be daunting. A child may want that fire truck or dolly with the blond curls. A loved one may want a comfy sweater or necklace. Yes. It is Christmas. Never forget those who are in need during the season and would appreciate a warm meal, a wool scarf, or a pair of gloves. A helping hand at the homeless shelter is always appreciated. Your time is the greatest gift to someone who has less. Please give.

Doug the Neighbor - Free Advice...$1...Success - Katy said she was starting a new job on Monday and asked me. "What does it take be successful?" I said. "Katy. My advice is free. But if you like it...$1" "Okay." I proceeded. "Success is not comparing yourself to others... 'that person is successful because he has a Mercedes or a big house with a pool'. Success is setting your own goals and trying to achieve them. If you wish to be a Doctor and you become a Doctor you are a success. Or a lawyer. Or run your own business. Or you want a family. You are a success." Katy nodded. "If you compare yourself to others you will never be happy. Take a look at fashion magazines and how they glamorize women. It is only natural to compare yourself when in fact...you are perfect the way you are. Men have it difficult. Every milestone birthday...25...30...35...40...45..men compare themselves to other men....'where is my Mercedes......

Doug the Neighbor - Free Advice...$1 - The 'eating season'....Thanksgiving...Christmas...New Years...is a period of temptation. Food. Food. Food. Thanksgiving turkey...yum. Christmas ham...delicious. New Years steak...fantastic. With family and friends offering you their finest cuisine, how can you say no? With these offerings we are reminded of the blessings we have received during the year and wish to share with our loved ones. But loved ones don't have to worry about our waist. We bear the worry and the weight. And a good way to control ourselves during the temptation...moderation. Try a smaller portions of Aunt Margaret's candied yams with marsh mellows. Try a smaller portion of turkey. Maybe just a taste of eggnog. Don't deny yourself. Just smaller portions. - Doug the Neighbor Free Advice...$1.

Doug the Neighbor - Free Advice...$1 - The 'eating season'...Thanksgiving....Christmas....New Years is here. Food is offered by friends and relatives to enjoy the holidays. Stores, supermarkets offer plenty of displays of food with beautiful advertisements. Temptation is too much. We are at the mercy of great tasting food. And we eat it...and eat it. Resistance is useless. And the waist line expands. Best bet is to increase your exercise schedule with longer walks around the neighborhood. Get out and get some fresh air. Gyms have all the equipment. But gyms are indoors. Isn't the purpose of exercise to get outside and breathe the fresh air. Why drive to a gym? Drive to go exercise? That is silly. Why pay for a membership? Walk to the park. Your taxes already paid for the park. Increase your walk by 10% each day. In seven days you will feel better. More energetic. An your clothes will fit better. I find that my Eddie Bauer kakis fit better when I exer...

Doug the Neighbor - Free Advice...$1 - The 'eating season' ... Thanksgiving...Christmas...New Years, is tough temptation on the body. Turkey... stuffing....pie... egg nog....chocolates...wine... beer....can add on the pounds. Next thing you know, you wish Santa gave you a new belt. A simple walk around the neighborhood can help in so many ways. Take a family member with you. Talk to each other without the cell phone staring you in the face. Breathe in the fresh air. Look at the beautiful trees. Stretch those leg muscles. Skechers has created a great line of foot wear. I wear the lace up, blue and white sneakers They have a thick sole and make me feel like a 'football coach walking the sidelines' but really the sidewalks of my neighborhood. Go for a walk. It will help your waistline and make you feel great. - Doug the Neighbor Free Advice...$1 - If you like this advice...$1...please to... Venmo...@Douglas-Gowland

Doug the Neighbor - Free Advice...$1 - The Christmas season is coming. It is tough to stay healthy when the 'eating season' begins. Thanksgiving then Christmas. Tables are piled high with food. Turkey... candied yams...mashed taters... cranberry sauce...then the pie. There is always room for pie. It is tough. But try fitting Chobani yogurt into your meals. As toppings on salad...desert...snacks. Try freezing the yogurt. Frozen yogurt. Just like ice cream but better for you. Healthy eating during the holidays. - Doug the Neighbor Free Advice...$1 = If you like this advice...$1 Venmo...@Douglas-Gowland
